Azo Bell
Azo Bell's long musical career with string instruments has taken him to many parts of the world, performing in a variety of genres and venues - from street to opera house. From his musical beginnings in high school rock bands to his work in jazz and theatrical contexts, improvisation has been at the core of Mr. Bell's musicianship and his approach to life in general. Beyond the groove and song based structures, typical of jazz, Azo is also interested in free improvisation, and improvisation directed by movement artists, film, conductors, natural and random events.
Beat Gisler
Beat Gisler, electric bassist, band leader, composer, solo artist, producer, recording artist. Born in Zurich, Switzerland and addicted to music from his early teens. A professional musician all his adult life, Beat has formed and directed numerous bands in diverse genres, from Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Rock, and Pop to Jazz, Free Improv and Experimental. He has travelled extensively, playing, studying, and touring in Eastern and Western Europe, Russia, India, Australia, Asia, Southeast Asia, and has spent several years in the USA. Mr. Gisler has a passion for all music, but especially free improvisation. He seeks to encourage improvisation and innovation within and without the jazz realm. He is currently based in the Northern Rivers, NSW, Australia.
Martin Kay
Martin Kay is a prominent figure in Australian music, known for his original work across multiple genres, with a focus on classical and cross-genre saxophone studies. His creative research focuses on integrating notation and improvisation within unique compositional frameworks. He has co-led and performed in countless original ensembles, broadcasting nationally and touring internationally. Martin is a lecturer in Saxophone at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is currently living in Brisbane.
Benjamin Shannon
Benjamin Shannon is making a serious indent into the Australian and International contemporary music scene as a percussionist, educator, curator and composer. His compositions have received critical acclaim and his creative projects have received support from a number of funding programs and art institutions. Since 2013 he has toured nationally and internationally with a multitude of groups. Ben also conducts and directs an improvising orchestra, The Brisbane Conduction Orchestra. Mr Shannon’s approach to music is a holistic process that is clearly representative of everything he stands for.
